Off to Neverland

It was off to Neverland for Halloween!
Tinkerbell, Peter Pan, Captain Hook and the Crocodile

Another milestone has been marked: Max was adamant about choosing his costume this year and did not want to consider any of my creative brother-sister pairs. The rest of the family had to go along with HIS ideas instead of mine. The end of an era. Assemble your crew, Peter Pan!

I discovered our options for Peter Pan costumes were limited, especially since I refused to pay an astronomical amount of money for a pair of green polyester pants and shirt.  The first attempt at recreating the look involved ordering some green tights online - except they ended up being more like green pantyhose than tights. The original tunic wasn't long enough to cover his rear, which meant Max would be trick-or-treating with his underoos showing! A sudden 30 degree shift to cold weather also necessitated some changes to the costume. There was a quick redesign on the tunic and I located some green pants from last Christmas that were just a little short. Oh well, he only wore the costume two times this year. We may be able to reuse the hat for Robin Hood sometime...

He can fly!

Tinkerbell was much easier to dress because those costumes are plentiful. Our Tinkerbell had a dark side: she insisted on a pirate hat and refused to leave the pompoms on her shoes.

Ready to hit the streets!

We made a special stop en route to the block party because our sweet neighbors had a Tinkerbell treat for Sarah!

Our neighborhood has several great block parties

and even the teenagers still come out to attend.

The spooky decorations were on full display!

Sarah immediately caught on to the idea of trick or treating. She loved reaching into the bowl and pulling out candy, then refused to let it go once it was in her hand. Perhaps she was worried her Mommy might snatch it....

Some people put up a few ghosts or cobwebs to decorate for Halloween. Others might be a slightly more dramatic like our neighbors across the street:

Max was a little intimidated by the talking and moving figures.
Sarah didn't even get down the driveway.

The hearse stays parked in front of their house for a week.

Craziness!

We counted our loot back at home and enjoyed a treat to celebrate Babba's birthday a little longer!

Happy Birthday and Happy Halloween!

The Final F: Fire

Fire, Marshmallows, Chocolate, and Graham Crackers -
S'mores, please!

Sarah checked out the fire, but decided to gobble her graham crackers inside. After all, the baby doll needed a s'more, too!

No babies allowed near the fire pit!

Love my Sarah Cat!

And her polka dot squeaky shoes!

This concludes our study of Fall and the letter F!

Floats:
It has been 11 years since we left Furman and we still have not learned to go look at the Homecoming floats BEFORE the game starts and they get trashed. We weren't sure exactly what this float represented: maybe a Paladin chasing the swans on the lake?

Furman Fashion Clearance Bin

After being chastised for posting pictures of Beckers in the Florida heat, here is one of beautiful Beckers looking extra lovely having FUN drinks and dinner out on the town!

Fall: Brought to you by the Letter F

Another Fall First: Field Trip!

Mrs. Armstrong's and Mrs.Robinson's 4K Class
(Max wiggling on end in green fleece)

Hay Ride

Little Sister was included on the field trip due to lack of alternate child care arrangements. While I was confident she would love the activities, I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to manage both kids in an unfamiliar environment during nap time. Sarah started crying as soon as we sat down on the hay ride, which left this Mommy more than a little concerned about the day, but she was quickly comforted by her brother and couldn't wait to peek out once the ride started!
