The day may have been rainy, but our team was full of sunshine as we geared up for Operation Inasmuch 2014! This year I served as project leader to help move a formerly homeless family into a brand new house! Our church participates in GAIHN, an inter-denominational alliance that houses homeless families at various churches and synagogues for week-long stints as they try to find transitional and permanent housing. Many organizations had been working together prior to Operation Inasmuch to make a permanent home a reality for one family. Fluor Corporation built the high-quality house, Homes for Hope helped the family apply and secure the rights for this particular housing, and GAIHN assisted the family throughout the process. Our team was tasked with procuring furniture, shopping for household necessities, moving the family's belongings, and setting up the house - the fun part!
We were honored to be of assistance to this amazing father and son. We laughed as the son bounced excitedly on his new bed with his cousins, and opened (and slammed) the drawers of his new dresser. The homeowner sang a beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace as a thank-you to our team. We hope they enjoy every inch of their beautiful new home!
