Final Four

On the basketball court at the Richards' household you will often find the University of Louisville (Max) pitted against Furman University (Daddy). But a more exciting match-up for the Cardinals was to be found in Atlanta for the Final Four!

Astoundingly, Jason had bought tickets last year after discovering the Final Four would be held so close to home. As Louisville edged closer to the championship, he was afraid to hope and dared not to dream. Then the stars aligned...for him. Jason decided his wife was not a "true" Louisville fan and therefore did not deserve to attend the games, so he invited a childhood friend instead. Yet this imitation fan cared enough to drive to Atlanta even for a few hours in order to witness the mayhem and to see the gaggle of "true fans" who descended upon the city, a.k.a our Louisville gang.

After a nail-biting win on Saturday Louisville advanced to the National Championship game. However, a greater struggle was emerging in the Richards household. Jason had acquired two additional tickets for the final game, which would allow me to attend. But who got to sit with him in the good seats - me or the buddy? There was some discussion. And some fighting. And some more discussion. And some tears. Then the big guns got involved: the mother-in-law. Mimi advised Jason that it was much better to have a disappointed friend who lived in a different city than a disappointed wife who lived in the same house. Slam dunk.
