Can he fix it? Yes, he can!
Construction has been Max's number one fascination this summer. The boy has an incredible eye for spotting construction vehicles. There are exactly 11 spots between Max's house and Mimi's house that currently contain giant yellow machines. And Max knows exactly where each one is and in what order. When we come across one working all activities must immediately come to a halt - no driving, no talking, no moving - nothing but admiration for the "Mighty Machines".
The ultimate prize came when they began to tear down a restaurant near our house. One day we were able to see the destruction in progress. When the machines are not working, Max tells me that they are "resting". Considering we check on their progress daily, those are some lazy machines.

Jason took Max to watch the Furman football players practice recently. Approximately 30 seconds after arrival at the field, Max spotted a backhoe by the tennis courts and was off to investigate. The next 45 minutes were spent watching it dig a hole instead of checking out the team.
Max knows every word of his books about machines and can fill in the blanks (or call you out) when you skip a part. He walks around the house singing "Bob the Builder" and tries to twirl his hammer and put it in his tool belt like Bob. Construction books, toys, tools, songs, and shows...it has been an education. For a girl who did not know the difference between a loader and a grader, I have learned so much from Builder Max!

Max,
Please ask Mom and/or Dad to purchase Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel from your local book store. Any fan of yellow earth movers will love this book just as my brothers did.
