Mommy confession: Baseball is not my favorite sport.
(Auntie Beckers, stop reading NOW).
The pro version is slow enough, the kid kind…well, yaaaaawwwwnnnn. When a group of Max's friends decided to form a team for Coach's Pitch, I was hesitant to commit. It was still cold. Practices were on weeknights, late in the evening. Dd my kid even know the rules of baseball? We have barely hit off a tee in the backyard, much less from pitching! But the Max is eager to try new sports even if Mommy isn't. And a slugger was born...
No one was more surprised than me to learn that Max can hit!
The Phillies were Max's dream team - an entire team of his friends; some he has known since infancy and some new friends from kindergarten this year. Apparently they could be heard chanting, "Phillies! Phillies!" at recess according to Max's teacher.
Learning some defense
Sometimes the boys were so eager to get the ball they competed with their teammates! Max also showed good manners by handing the ball hit by one of his teammates to the first baseman from the other team. We may need to talk about "teamwork" in a different context.
Go, Go, Go!
Big Hitter
Max wasn't the only one having a great time. Sarah loved playing with her "friends" during the games! The girls may have gotten more exercise than their brothers.
Our first baseball experience is a rousing success!
Mommy may still find baseball a little boring, but no on can argue with the cuteness of this bat boy!
