Some might consider 3 1/2 years a little late for the first visit to the dentist, but hopefully those people will not choose to judge. Max sailed through his initial dental encounter, exclaiming that he loved the safari themed office and Dr. April! Max received a pair on sunglasses to wear while the hygenist used the big "flashlight" to clean his teeth.
Dr. April won his heart when she counted his teeth using the ABCs and couldn't wait to tell Daddy that he had up to "T" in his mouth! Although he pretended not to, Max was listening intently as Dr. April offered suggestions for kicking the thumb sucking habit. She encouraged him to cease and desist as soon as things settled down with the baby. The following day Max toyed with the idea of not sleeping with Pelt at naptime. Since Pelt and the thumb are completely intertwined, Mommy fully supported the idea. He changed his mind as naptime approached, but at least the concept is percolating.... Other than the thumb issue, Max received a great report and was a perfect patient!
