Advent: Hope

Our Sunday School class is using a devotional book, The Uncluttered Heart, to help "make room for God during Advent and Christmas". One point that resonated with me was the idea that we spend so much time preparing for Christmas: preparing our homes by decorating, preparing for gift giving by shopping, and preparing for fun with parties and activities, but how much time to we devote to preparing our hearts and souls during Advent?

One way that I plan to recognize the first theme of Hope is to use the mediations and moments of stillness with hope that it will deepen my longing for and my connection to God. I also want to document some of the moments that reflect the themes of Advent throughout the season.

They are literally trying to make room! 

These two faces fill me with hope that each day can and will be better.
