Advent: Love

Moments of Love this Advent Season:

Watching Max sing with the choir in the Sanctuary while Sarah sat in my lap, nuzzling my cheek: We had planned to take Sarah to the nursery during the performance, but decided to let her stay at the last minute. She was an angel and so excited to see Max! Love.

Hearing Max's delight about spending time with me: When I was asked to help plan Max's class party only a week before the scheduled time, my initial reaction was frustration about adding more to my long list of things to do. But then I overheard Max talking about the party to Jason. He said, "And you know what the best part is? My mommy gets to come and help. She gets to be at the party with us!" Love.

Watching the relationship between Max and Sarah: This is the only year they will overlap for activities in the preschool ministry at church. Sarah was thrilled to be sitting by her big brother during the singing. Love.

And tonight at the Candlelight Service, all the of the themes of advent were present and alive in the room: the Hope that Christ brings; Peace to be still in awe and wonder of God; Joy at God's amazing gift; and Love for everyone in that room and for the community of believers.
